At a glance

Torxup ProDefend Carbon Cartridges are the £7.95 replacement vapour stage for the Torxup CoreMask reusable half-face respirator, sold as a matched pair. They are for painters, sprayers, resin casters and anyone working with solvents who can already smell the job through a particulate-only filter. Free UK delivery, dispatched the same working day from Halton, Lancashire.

  • A pair of ProDefend carbon cartridges costs £7.95 with Torxup, which is £3.98 per cartridge.
  • ProDefend cartridges handle the vapour and odour stage; FlowCore cotton pads at £2.95 handle the dust stage, and the CoreMask uses both together.
  • Replace the pair when solvent or resin smell starts getting through, or immediately after any contamination event — carbon has no visible end-of-life indicator.
  • Both filter types ship inside the £15.95 CoreMask kit, so a replacement pair is only needed after the originals are spent.
  • Multi-buy: 3 to 4 pairs are 10% off every pair (£7.15 each) and 5 or more are 20% off (£6.36 each), applied in the basket automatically.
  • Subscribe and save: a ProDefend pair and a FlowCore pack every 2 or 4 weeks for £9.26 per refill, 15% less than the £10.90 they cost separately. Cancel any time.
  • UK delivery is free on every order except a FlowCore pack on its own, and returns are accepted within 14 days of receipt.

What's in the pack

  • 1 pair of ProDefend carbon cartridges
  • Fits every Torxup CoreMask

How long do CoreMask filters last?

CoreMask FlowCore pads typically last 20 to 40 working hours of active dust exposure before replacement; dustier work (MDF, plaster, silica) saturates them faster. Replace when breathing resistance increases noticeably, on visible dust load, or after any contamination event.

Which CoreMask does it fit?

Fits every Torxup CoreMask. Both filter types ship with the mask — the standard kit (£15.95) includes a pair of each, and the bundle (£23.95) adds a spare pair of each.

Filter questions, answered

Is there a discount for buying several pairs?
Yes. Three to four pairs are 10% off every pair (£7.15 each) and five or more are 20% off every pair (£6.36 each). The discount is applied in the basket automatically. To have filters sent automatically, the refill subscription delivers a ProDefend pair and a FlowCore pack every 2 or 4 weeks for £9.26, 15% off, and can be cancelled any time.

How often should ProDefend carbon cartridges be replaced?
Replace the pair as soon as you can smell solvent, paint or resin through the mask, or immediately after any contamination event. Activated carbon saturates invisibly, so odour breakthrough is the only reliable end-of-life signal — there is no colour change to watch for.

Can ProDefend carbon cartridges be washed and reused?
No. The CoreMask body and silicone seal are washable in warm soapy water, but carbon cartridges must be replaced, not cleaned. Washing floods the carbon bed and destroys its adsorption capacity.

Do I need the carbon cartridges as well as the cotton pads?
For dust-only work such as sanding or plaster you can run FlowCore pads alone. For paint, resin, solvent or fume work you need both: the FlowCore pad catches particulates and the ProDefend cartridge behind it adsorbs the vapour.

Are ProDefend cartridges sold singly or as a pair?
As a matched pair for £7.95. The CoreMask is a twin-cartridge respirator, so both sides are replaced together to keep breathing resistance even across the face seal.
